17-year-old Dario Orsini took his maiden win in Formula Abarth after a faultless drive in the reverse-grid second race at Imola.
Starting from fifth, Orsini led the race by the end of the first lap. After a short safety car period, which was caused by an incident involving polesitter Sabino de Castro, Orsini was able to build a healthy gap and was never under threat for the race victory.
Behind the winner, huge fight developed for second, however, mistakes from Sergey Trofimov and Simone Iaquinta let championship leader Alessio Rovera and his teammate Giorgio Roda move into podium positions.
Iaquinta finished fourth, as Vitaly Larionov got away with his third National Trophy victory with finishing narrowly in front of compatriot Trofimov. Lukas Moraes finished seventh, with Michele Beretta being another retirement in the classification.
