Ferrari’s Chinese protege Guan Yu Zhou will take in the Toyota Racing Series at the start of 2016.
Zhou finished second in Italian Formula 4 this year in his maiden single-seater campaign, scoring a hat-trick of wins at Monza.
In going to New Zealand for TRS he follows in the footsteps of Lance Stroll, who won the five-round series last year as part of the Ferrari Driver Academy before recently joining Williams.
Like Stroll, Zhou will drive for M2 Competition, joining Brazilian F3 champion Pedro Piquet and MSA Formula winner Lando Norris as signed up for the squad.
Zhou is expected to move up to Formula 3 for next season after recent tests.
?As we decided last year with the winner of the series Lance Stroll, again in 2016 one of the drivers from the Ferrari Driver Academy will participate in TRS,? said Luca Baldisseri, who is believed to be leaving his post at the head of the FDA this winter.
?We are certain that testing and racing is the best training method to achieve the best results. This series perfectly suits motorsport training during the winter weather of the European off season.
?TRS is an impeccable organization and a fantastic environment. It?s a fun and professional competition. As it was for Stroll I hope Joe?s training will be enriched from this experience.?
